Kevin's myspace is updated with some songs and instrumentals. He also left a message about the upcoming 3EB collection in his blog.
"Hello and thanks for your support, Its great to see all of your faces again!
In honor of the release of The Third Eye Blind Collection, this page will be taking a trip down memory lane with historical stuff from 3eb's Kevin Cadogan days (1994-2000).
I am sure lot's of information will be in the cd about how we made the first two albums and toured exhaustively on them for more than two years. I am especially excited for you all to finally read about Eric Valentines amazing producing skills on the first record. I even hear whispers that Stephan describes how each song was created. I remember how all of the songs we wrote together happened so I can't wait to compare notes and share with all of you our great experiences.
So be sure to check it out and let Rhino Records know what you think."
-Kevin Cadogan
haha I'm reading some of his comments and other people have said "thanks for the request" as well. Damn I thought there was gonna be new stuff on his myspace. And when he said "bringing back old memories", I thought we were gonna be surprised by something like Gorgeous or Sorry or something we've never heard of. My apologies for thinking like a n00b.

Yeah, so... real? Fake? I'm skeptical.

Is corn; plays piano
Well, he is alive and kicking in any case. I sent him an email a few days ago and he replied shortly afterward with a decently sized reply (compared to what I've seen posted here).
Maybe I woke him up.

Wetsun, could you possibly post his reply if it's not too revealing? I do wonder what Kevin is up to these days. Where's his income, for one?
3eb_ate_my_hands, if you want, I can upload a zip file of a bunch of KC songs. Just PM me.
Hmm. Myspace usually shuts down music pages numerous times until you give them a gazillion forms of proof that you're the real artist (as was the case with 3eb's myspace). So he's either real or an imposter who they don't care about because he's not a significant player in the music scene anymore.
If it is him, he sounds eerily upbeat about his whole 3eb experience, almost like he's looking past the whole fiasco.
Well even if it's not him, hopefully he feels that way. Holding grudges like that for years and years can't be too healthy.
'Twas mostly answering guitar-related inquiries, as I was asking he and Tony among others about various options.Originally Posted by redFACEDsaint
As far as being upbeat...he seemed alright with everything in the guitar magazine interview a while back.
I'm not sure if this post from him is legit or not, but he seemed to know a lot about the Collection. His post may have actually finally convinced me to buy it. The makings of all the songs from the ST and Blue? Sounds good.![]()

song explanations: yes, we knew that, thankyou ms. lippy. Song explanations meaning what each song is about, kind of like what used to be on here. But what I am interested is in the following:

I'm pretty sure that's Kevin's legit page, I kinda forget how I found it when it was first created, someone probably mentioned it on this board or something. "Chill" is definitely an awesome song. And I think he has gotten over the whole fiasco and can just look back at the amazing music and songs that were made then and appreciate them. When he produced my friend's band they convinced him to get on guitar and they played the self-titled album straight through and it kind of regenerated his love of those songs in a way. I'm definitely interested in comparing his notes with Stephan's though, although I'm sure their recounts of making the Blue album might be slightly biased
Soooo, yeah.![]()
Peter: Oh god I hope you're not pregnant, we can't afford another kid. We've already got Chris, Stewie, Richie, Joanie, Greg, Marsha, Bobby, Jan, Mike Seaver, Carol Seaver, Boner, Urkel, Mr. Furley.
Brian: Peter, those aren't your kids, that's the Nick at Nite line-up.
Peter: Blanka, Zangief, Chun-Li, Guile, E. Honda.
Brian: That's Street Fighter.
Peter: Red, Blue, Green.
Brian: Those are colors.
Some musical snacks I've made
seriously? thats totally badass.
and yeah protools off the hizoo (for all three albums)
for the simple reason that i find it SO unlikely, i have a strong feeling this album might have alot of info inside of it.
weird logic?
yes i know
Yes, but protools can be used as just an editing machine, etc. People have a huge misconception of it. They automatically think like...."oh protools: cut/paste, etc."
Here's what Carmer has to say about OotV production...
“Out of the Vein” was tracked on Carmer’s customized Ampex 1200. It’s a 2” sixteen track machine but he’s modified it with a custom made eleven track head assembly, to give him some extra tape width. “I run the track thru a pre amp depending on what flavor or sonic quality I want, then I hit the tape machine with it. Once I build the track on tape then I transfer it into the computer and then I mix thru the Helios to 1/2 inch tape.
Why is he still recording to tape? “Analog just sounds better, They say you can do everything in Pro Tools but you take a Ricky Martin album that was made in Pro Tools and put it up against The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon and it just doesn’t sound as good.”
“I don’t compress anything with drums except for one mic. An ambient room mic like a U87 gives it some power. With Bass I use an LA-2a—I try different things. I don’t track with reverb. I like to try to suck the reverb out of the environment. I try to use early reflections. I don’t like fake sounds. I hate the sound of algorithms.”
Part of me just wants to leave a comment saying, Dude! Great job on Out of the Vein!

STACE!?
i know exactly what protools is and all the things it can/cant do.
I use it professionally/unprofessionally on a weekly/daily basis.
and logic
and reason
word
(as for the whole "analog sounds better" in my opinion its a load of shit. its gotten to the point where there is almost no difference whatsoever, and the people who are afraid to start accepting the conversion away from analog are like people who refuse to...i dunno drive cars with fuel injection, or run a computer with a GUI instead of a command prompt. )
tell me that the vocals on OOTV sound uncompressed and like they were run straight to tape, and i'll tell you that you are deaf.

I <3 you all.
of course they were compressed. its fucking rock music. 99 percent of bands compress vocals. Theres nothing wrong with that. 99 percent of rock bands use compressors as well. This is where i don't see all the complaining. Just because a guitar is compressed doesn't mean it doesn't sound like a guitar. Fuck, most guitars are compressed at live shows.
And analog just sounds more like music to me, especially as to whats available(sacd, dvda, vinyl etc)....I have a dvd audio player and it still has that scratchy sound, moreso when you turn it up.
