View Full Version : New site design
I know, I know, it's WAY different to before (there's actually some colour) but I felt the time was good for a change. Natalie (crimson~melody (http://www.3eb.co.uk/member.php?u=1215)) designed new graphics for the top of the page a long ass time ago and I never got round to doing anything with them, I decided this was the best time to make that change.
I browsed the vBulletin forums and found a nice free style and decided to edit it a little to fit here. Hopefully, in coming months, I'll make subtle changes and allow multiple versions of this style to be used on the forums, with different colours etc, possibly by request.
In the meantime there will be graphics that don't work (or look odd) so please let me know and there may also be some features that don't work, again, if this is the case, pleae let me know and I'll try to fix them ASAP.

Holy freaking crap. I came out of the Chit Chat forum and suddenly everything was... colourful.
It's so beautiful... :bigcry:

My initial reaction was, "oh shit I must have clicked on the wrong button." It looks great.

the absolute only thing i dont like is that some of the thread titles are hard to read.
(if asked how could it be improved i'd say bold them, bring up their font size, or turn them black?)
Terrific job adam.
:-D
Refreshing.
Just made everything slightly bigger, is that any better?

OoOoOo...scared the shit out of my when I first woke up, but the banner is B-A-D-A-S-S.

I think it looks way cleaner. Good job Adam! The top graphic makes the whole page.
I really like it
The header graphic is definitely better, less boring than the old one...I was kinda stuck on the old color scheme, but this one's good, I can get used to it. A welcome change overall.
I'd really like to do another version of this scheme just with more basic colours, like the old site. We'll see, I wanna get the basic font sizes and everything else sorted first.

Why was I not informed about this? Unacceptable!
;)
It's quite different, but changing things up isn't a bad idea.
Sorry to crash the mod party...i think it looks great...
EDIT: Everybody's name is now red...

pretty damn cool. refreshing!
nat did a great job. diggin' the headstone.
i was scared at first...but that's because i fear change.
this rocks, though!
Can I make a color change suggestion? The red is beautiful (my favorite color in fact) but it is still too bright and hard to read things because it is so vivid... perhaps you could make it a deep maroon color (I think you had that as an accent of the last site). If you make them a darker color then you can keep the type size smaller like the old site.
Other than that, it feels weird to see the site all "bubbly" (which isn't bad, it's just not what I'm use to) but I think it looks great and can't wait to see the other version when you get it done.

i like the red in the links and everything but it's pretty bold on my eyes in the headers. very contrasting. i'll get used to it though.

If people still have a problem with it after a week or so I'll look at toning it down.
Does anyone have any problems with the current size of the fonts? If so, can you tell me what screen resolution you're using, please?
I'd rather keep them around this size as it looks a lot tidier.

Woah, it is a shocker when you first see it! I really love the banner, nice job Natalie! I like having color, too, but it will be harder to conceal when I am at work  .
fuckin bad ass Adam, looks great!

I'm running 1280 x 1024 and the text does seem a little small. Only in the actual posts though.
Actually, when I quoted your post just now, it got a bit bigger when it entered the "create post" box. This would be a good size.

looks nice. i dig it!
Yeah the text in the biright red was the painful part. The color you have now is much better. Still in the value range of the bars, but easier to read... MUCH easier to read.
The text size is fine for me... now that I have my glasses on. LOL! Before I put them on I was like "Damn this is hard to read!" :duh:

the fonts sizes seem to be a good size and everything is easy to read..
one thing i noticed (dont know if it was intentional or not), but if you click on the TVCY banner, it brings you to forum.php whereas before it brought you to index.php
great job adam.
I noticed that yesterday and meant to change it, will do it now...

It's pretty awesome. I agree with deepening the red-color a bit, if that's possible. :)

Is it just me, or are the "highlight-to-read" spoiler texts not working? I can read what's written, no highlighting required. Maybe it has something to do with the changes?
I like the new color scheme, though.
Bollocks, yeah, I need to re-do the spoiler tags. Ooops.

I love the bold metallic colors. They don't hurt my eyes at all. Plus, I'm digging the header. Funny how SJ's face is not there when it is on the Collection.

Adam: only issue i have - In the older version of TVCY, the mod's names were red while everyone else was a black - it was easy to tell the difference.
can something be done like that? Maybe Mods have black names?

I don't particularly like the red. But, whatever.
I have an idea that you might want to try though. On another forum I check out every so often, it has a recent threads section on the front page just like yours. Only, when you click on one of the recent threads, it takes you straight to the last page of the thread. Yeah, it's a small improvement, but I'm all for things that don't make me load an extra page and click an extra time.

When you click "View New Posts" or "New Posts" you're taken to a page listing all the threads since your last visit. The thread title will have a little http://www.3eb.co.uk/easyaction/buttons/lastpost.gif icon, if you click that then you're taken directly to the last unread post in the thread. Is that what you mean?

Just a small thing, but the width bar at the bottom of the screen is somewhat annoying. I tried viewing the page in both firefox and explorer, and it shows up in both.
What resolution are you using?
Made a few changes, hopefully you were using 1024 x 768 cos in Firefox, for me, it seems to look OK. Looks fine in IE7 too.

I am using 1024x768, and the width bar is gone now
