I want to start by saying that I have so much caffeine in my system, who knows how coherent this thread will be.

So.....you read correctly, Arion was not at the show. Upon hearing this, I was *this* close to packing up and leaving....(partially kidding of course ;)). According to SJ, he's in the middle of some funky detox diet, only eating roots (these are his words) and as a result, was too sick to perform. Guess you gotta believe him. But it just felt weird not having him on stage.

But to Stephan, Tony and Brad's credit, they still rocked it. Stephan's voice just sounds so much stronger these days, in my opinion. Though a big chunk of the crowd seemed more concerned with the drunk chicks and wondering who was going to be lifting their shirt up next. (including the two WireImage photographers I was standing next to. Go figure -- 3eb can't get press to save it's life, ha!) But Stephan did bring up some folks to the stage and did the beer bong, which was a huge hit.

Gosh, my mind is swimming right now....from what I remember, they only played two new songs - Stevie Ray Vaughn (hope I spelled that right...I'm really liking this one - I had to hear it live to understand the lyrics. The line "you can't say we didn't try" keeps echoing in my head ) & Second Born. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong here...)

The rest....(in no particular order)...felt like such a quick set (but that's what I always think)

Too damn out of it to really reflect on anymore. I had never been to Indianapolis during race time - it is a ZOO! Note to self - learn where parking & entrances are before you get there. I got so lost - not the best planning on my part.

Jackie, sorry I missed meeting you. Another time :) Hope y'all are having a fun evening.

Did way too much driving today - never, ever, ever again - I am getting too old for this shit! But what can I say -- I love this band to death and that love makes me put on the blinders more times than I care to say.

Edit: As I mentioned earlier, I was standing behind a photographer from WireImage and his pictures have been uploaded to the website.

Stephan in all of his barefoot glory - damn, it was hot yesterday. Tony just looked as comfortable as could be in his sweater - I would have been sweating like crazy.

I don't have an account there, so they're kinda small, but you get the idea.

Tony played bass a probably a little less than half the time.

I have a video of the beer-bonging, I'll try to get it up tomorrow if someone can host it. If not I'll YSI.

Hey! Sucks we missed each other! I was worried about you all evening thinking you had to drive all the way back in the same day. Our group was looking forward to hanging out with you for the evening.

Yeah, it was obvious (to some, I guess) that Arion was missing immediately, but the thing that really made me sick to my stomach in a weird way was that there wasn't even a mike stand where he should be! It was like he didn't exist!

Holistic healing is a wonderful thing, but it'll really fuck ya up quick if one is inexperienced or doing their own treatments :uhoh:

Anyway, the band sounded less complete and full without everyone there, but I thoroughly enjoyed the sound level, fresh air, sun, blue skies, and insane atmosphere of Indy in May. For me, it was an excellent show, and brought my concert buddies back together again for some fun!

it might be the first time it's been played in a while, but i REALLY doubt it's not going to be on the album.

it's like the SCL of the album. they are so so so sick of hearing it that they want it to be fresh when the album comes out:D

And I just remembered that the second girl Stephan brought up on stage was a wearing a 3eb shirt:rock:

Yes! All things considered I thought the sound was great - I don't know why people are bitching about the tech guys screwing up. But next time, I'm getting directions and meeting up with folks beforehand - meeting up with anyone there was like finding a needle in a haystack.

I'm gonna laugh though if it turns out we were near each other in the crowd.

I was trying to move up the whole time but kept getting pushed back by hillfuck rednecks who have same number of teeth as fingers.

I would not say the SCL of the album. They are playing it again, so it won't be fresh :duh:

They soundchecked Second Born at the Etown show, it sounded good but I was upset that there sounded like there was a lyric change in my favorite part of the song. Did he sing, "You await the test results... / Spent out on expert consults..." or was it something different?

it was different. he changed a lot of the words to it, i was sort of disappointed. i can't remember what they were, though, sorry.

I was pissed that I had to hear new songs...probably just me though. Until there's a new album, anything but Don't Believe A Word is just useless to me.
