Having received a request for this information via PM, I've decided to share the wealth to those of you who aren't in the know of how to get from the Oakland or San Francisco Airports to downtown SF.

DIRECTIONS FROM OAKLAND AIRPORT:
From the luggage pick up or departure exit go outside the airport, you'll pay $2 per person to take a shuttle bus called AIR BART to the BART train station. Don't worry the bus shelters are clearly marked outside the airport. At the BART station you'll buy a ticket for the amount or as close to the amount for a one way trip to the Powell Station in SF. (there will be a chart posted on the ticket machine telling you how much it'll cost or you can find out at www.bart.org (http://www.bart.org)). Make sure you make your way to the platform and board a train that says SFO/MILLBRAE or DALY CITY... those trains will take you to downtown SF. There are lots of maps to help you understand what I'm saying. Get off at Powell Station

DIRECTIONS FROM SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT:
From the luggage pick up or departure exit follow the signs to the AIR TRAM. Take the Air Tram to the BART station. At the BART station you'll buy a ticket for the amount or as close to the amount for a one way trip to the Powell Station in SF. (there will be a chart posted on the ticket machine telling you how much it'll cost or you can find out at www.bart.org (http://www.bart.org)). Make sure you make your way to the platform and board a train that says DUBLIN/PLEASANTON ... those trains will take you to downtown SF. There are lots of maps to help you understand what I'm saying. Get off at Powell Station.

ONCE DOWNTOWN:
If your hotel is NOT one of the Miyakos by the venue, then from Powel Station you can do two things... grab a cab and tell the driver the hotel you want to go to, OR look at a MUNI map and figure out what bus will get you there.

If you are staying at one of the Miyakos by the venue, then from Powel Station you can do two things... take a cab = easy way, or you can walk 3 blocks up Powell St. to Geary and pay $1.50 per person to take the 38 bus which will take you to Geary and Fillmore where the venue is located (I don't know where the hotel is in relation to the venue). Keep in mind that around rush hour if you decide to take the bus, the 38 gets hella crowded around then.

Okay I hope these directions help you get to your hotels after your flight. Try to keep talk in this thread to strictly getting around SF from the Airports. PM me if you have any questions that don't belong in this thread.

And SAFE TRAVELS!

Thanks so much Pheebee.

Here are directions from the Powell St. BART Station and the Miyako (on Post St.)

Powell Bart To Miyako (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?do=nw&long=%2d122418329&2n=SAN%20FRANCISCO%20COUNTY&height=701&1y=US&r=f&1z=94103%2d1921&2a=1625%20Post%20St&mo=ma&1si=navt&2s=CA&2c=San%20Francisco&dtype=s&1rc=L1AAA&1da=%2d1%2e000000&2si=navt&2da=%2d1%2e000000&2rc=L1AAA&1n=SAN%20FRANCISCO%20COUNTY&cl=EN&width=1152&2v=ADDRESS&lat=37783870&did=1172159855&1gi=YJtN9pQ9RkOD%2bGMVgaSm0Q%3d%3d&qq=1ADqpk24ofAirQpxNz9G%252bMusEaXU2A1GgX2dmqAoeDY j%252bxDFcgmGyNPicbvOC8uFvN80DEIRIf4UTA047qnTm43jF dtJ2Ec3%252fwsg7zNqMCweQW1BUW3rr32ahNrPUO7r9jOja0% 252bMWJ2AskDjzcl75GHE1ibxmooVh3jkvi139ecAb4eSPH20P mWiywjoptz6p76%252bF4pVlMrp2EMohn51hYSfsoAS536v&2gi=YJtN9pQ9RkOD%2bGMVgaSm0Q%3d%3d&1a=899%20Market%20St&2y=US&un=m&2z=94115%2d3603&1s=CA&1c=San%20Francisco&zoom=11&go=1&rsres=1&1v=ADDRESS&ct=NA&1l=rxnfgv1V5QUJclKAHFxDKA==&1g=ypc+3va9fLQg6yfM33ShFA==&2l=oXQDP8F7G0fTS/6hmSZA+A==&2g=xSp7wSB0lfjsTyC/v+vjNg==)

It's 1.41 miles... It's not very far at all. How much do you think a cab would cost? If it's more than 10 bucks then we may just walk it.

It will cost around $10 for a cab. I do not recommend walking it as it is all up hill and the directions you provided puts you right though the middle of the sketchy part of the city where most of the homeless live and drug deals happen on the sidewalk.

I say walk at your own risk.

Hills + luggage + drug deals = Cab.

Math was easy this time around!

Most busses run till 12 or 12:30 a.m. The 38 that goes between the venue and downtown stops running regularly around 12:30 or 1 am and then a late night service comes every 30 min or so.

So glad I can help every one. I'll try to type up directions back to the airports if you feel you need them. Basically it's the reverse of what I've said. The only difference is the BART trains you take to get to the airports. The BART website and maps will help you with that too.
